Overall Verdict: ★★★★☆
This is the second summer in a row I’ve bought these ABEO Nora white sandals from The Walking Company and for good reason: they are comfortable, light, elegant, multi-purpose and have an adjustable width. They also lasted me through miles and miles of walking and demonstrate excellent durability. I love the bright and stylish white straps that go with everything.
Sizing and Width: I bought the sandals in size 7 “Neutral” Sole from a retail location. (I did not realize that you can special order them in the more supportive “Metatarsal” Sole until I saw the shoe online.) Although the sole is a medium B width, it has been comfortable for my D width feet. Both front and back straps are adjustable with velcro and buckles, so they can accommodate most widths.
Weight: The cork sole makes them light and easy to wear/carry.
Heel: The heel offers about a 1.5 inch supportive rubber cushion that is at the heart of what makes these shoes float. The heels are super comfortable and elevate your foot just enough to lend some stylishness without causing pain. The rubber reduces shock and makes wearing these sandals a smooth ride.
Arch: The sole offers a light arch that provides some support for people who pronate.
Forefoot: The forefoot is somewhat flatter than the heel, and does not offer as much cushion and support.
Straps: The adjustable leather straps are soft and have caused only minor blisters. They are easy to clean and barely scuff/stain. Sometimes the buckles have a light jingle.
Motion Control: One downside of the sandals is that the gap between the straps might cause your foot to slide or twist. This makes them less supportive than closed shoes.
Breathability: I love wearing open shoes in the summer and these shoes allow plenty of breathing room.
Versatility: These sandals can be worn with clothes that range from casual to business casual/ light formalwear. They are excellent for walking and daily activities, but not supportive enough for anything high-impact.
